Sr Manager (Project Lead) – Faith and Community Initiative (FCI)

Job Summary

Provide overall in-country leadership and management for the Faith and Community Initiative in Sierra Leone, leading country-level planning, translating global guidelines into local work plans, and ensuring adherence to donor standards and the 80/20 efficiency commitment. Serve as the principal point of contact with the U.S. Embassy, Ministry of Health, and Christian Health Associations, negotiating high-level transition plans to absorb program activities, staff, and systems into government ownership and financing. Lead and supervise the country team, oversee operations, procurement, and logistics, while holding accountability for fiscal management, grant compliance, and risk mitigation across programmatic, financial, and security domains. Maintain strong partnerships with faith-based organizations and global donors to support integrated health services delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, international development, business/public administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years' experience managing donor-funded health programs, including senior management and staff supervision
  • Strong track record engaging institutional donors, host governments (including Ministries of Health and Finance), and multi-organization consortia
  • Prior Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, or senior country program management experience
  • Demonstrated experience representing programs to U.S. Embassies/USG, national governments, the Global Fund, and other partners
  • Experience negotiating the transition or absorption of program activities into government systems and financing
  • Proven experience ensuring compliance and clean audits on donor-funded awards
  • Sufficient technical familiarity with integrated health programming (HIV, TB, malaria, MCH, and nutrition)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in the national/local language(s)
  • Regular in-country travel to implementation regions, districts, and field sites (typically up to 40% of the time)
  • Travel to insecure or hazardous/complex and difficult locations
  • Occasional international/regional travel for consortium and donor engagements
  • Ability to undergo a police (criminal background) check
  • Ability to undergo a Counter-Terrorism Sanctions screening
  • Understanding and consent to recruitment procedures regarding Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, or senior country program management experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in the national/local language(s) strongly preferred
