Job Summary
Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering to lead hardware development of Wonder’s next-generation automated beverage platform. You’ll own and drive the hardware design from concept to production while building and managing a team of 3-4 mechanical engineers. Collaborate with Software, Ops, Culinary, and other teams to ensure the system meets product specs, and establish documentation of design decisions and history. You’ll tackle difficult problems in product development, provide technical guidance to the team, and drive design, prototype, and validation timelines to hit deadlines. Requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), 10+ years in mechanical engineering product development (with at least 2 years in a leadership role), strong robotics and automation knowledge, CAD expertise (SolidWorks or equivalent), and excellent CAD/GD&T capabilities. The role is based in the Boston office (Charlestown, MA) with a minimum of 4 days in the office; benefits include competitive salary, equity, 401K, and comprehensive medical plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering product development, specifically in the industrial automation space
- At least 2 years in a staff or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of robotics systems and ability to work with robotics software groups
- Experience with standard industrial automation components (gantry systems, smart conveyors, linear actuators, pneumatic actuators, sensors)
- Proven ability to take a design from CAD to production with minimal prototype cycles
- Expertise in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD programs
- Strong 2D drawing skills including GD&T
- Ability to establish and teach CAD best practices
- Willingness to work 4 days a week in the Boston office
