Job Summary

Lead the Environmental, Health, and Safety team at the Columbus West manufacturing site by developing and implementing strategic EHS initiatives to enhance site culture and performance. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and BD policies while managing direct reports and participating in the Plant Leadership Team. Design and deliver training programs, facilitate incident investigations with root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement through data analysis and audits. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into operational decisions and projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering or related field
  • Five years of relevant experience in EHS management in a large manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of LOTO, Machine Guarding, incident investigation, and root cause analysis
  • Ability to read and write and converse in English
  • Willing and able to uphold BD Values
  • Regular, punctual attendance

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Functional Safety Certifications
  • Certified Safety Specialist
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • Six Sigma Green, or Black Belt
  • Experience in Medical Device, Chemical, or manufacturing
  • Experience with OSHA PSM
  • Experience managing a team in a cross-functional environment
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 compliance
  • Auditor certifications
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor a team
  • Continuous improvement skills
  • Experience in managing/handling environmental compliance including reporting and record keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews
  • Presentation skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to administer and interpret OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Ability to perform compliance assessments and action plans
  • Handling conflict/mediation skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Problem solving skills
