Job Summary
Senior Mainframe Software Engineer responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining COBOL mainframe applications (A/R, Billing, Sales Reporting), leading small to midsize projects, and guiding analysis and design of new or improved systems. Role requires multi-platform development, coordination with client resources, and project management without cross-departmental issues. Key duties include implementing changes to existing COBOL programs with MQ and API middleware, collaborating on solution design, providing lifecycle support (specifications, prototypes, QA, deployment, and support), coordinating across Order Processing, Warehouse, Billing, and Credit systems, and applying best practices in development and user experience. Proficiency in COBOL on Mainframe/iSeries, DB2/Oracle/SQL, SSIS/SSRS, and integration with MQ/API is expected, along with flexibility to manage tasks across various workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or directly related experience
- 6+ years development experience as application engineer/sr. programmer analyst
- 5+ years mainframe COBOL and/or Mainframe/iSeries development experience
- 5+ years relational database experience
