Job Summary
Loads and Dynamics Engineer responsible for defining and managing mechanical loads and environments (static, vibration, shock, acoustics) for spacecraft hardware design and verification. Utilize finite element modeling (NASTRAN, Femap), mass-acceleration curve generation, and response-limited sine vibration techniques; perform model reduction and deliver coupled loads analyses; support test campaigns (modal survey, sine & random vibration, acoustic, shock) and correlate dynamics models through testing; mentor junior engineers and contractors while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance rover hardware from concept to verification.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in spacecraft dynamics modeling and testing
- Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent additional years of experience in a spacecraft loads & dynamics organization
- Proficiency with NASTRAN FEA solver and associated pre/post software (Femap or similar) for statics & dynamics simulation
- Proficiency with MATLAB for data analysis
- Ability to mentor and develop more junior engineers, contractors, and interns to build an effective design team
- Beneficial skills and experience: Advanced degree; Experience developing specialized analysis tools; Use of Femap API and integrations with MATLAB
