Job Summary
Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business, contractors, and vendors while leading a local team of software engineers and applied AI/ML practitioners. Architect, design, and develop secure, high-quality production software systems using Java or Python, integrating AI/ML techniques such as LLMs, Generative AI, and coding assistants. Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including AI-assisted code review, refactoring, and test acceleration. Establish measurable validation standards for secure coding, peer review, and automated testing while promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC. Apply deep technical expertise to tackle diverse challenges spanning multiple technologies and applications, ensuring solutions are performant, scalable, and trustworthy.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 5+ years applied experience
- Advanced proficiency in Java or Python for software system development
- Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience integrating AI/ML techniques into software systems
- Familiarity with LLMs, Generative AI, NLP, RAG, AI evals and coding assistants
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in Java and/or Python programming languages
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment
- Ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows
- Experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls
- Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and practical machine learning frameworks
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working at code level with advanced AI/ML business applications
- AWS Certifications (Solution Architect Associate or Professional)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
