Sr. Key Account Manager - Data Centers

Job Summary

Lead the strategic expansion of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' data center infrastructural solutions in North America, securing early landmark projects and managing key account relationships with senior decision-makers. Conduct detailed customer needs analysis and competitive assessments to develop tailored proposals, RFP responses, and contract negotiations for long-term agreements. Collaborate with engineering teams and Japan HQ to co-develop customized solutions, maintain accurate sales forecasts, and consistently achieve revenue and profitability objectives. Represent the company at industry events and trade shows to strengthen market presence while driving customer satisfaction through proactive communication and issue resolution. This role requires up to 60% travel and fits within a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional weekend work as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in strategic sales, key account management, or business development within data center, industrial power and cooling solutions, or mission-critical infrastructure industries
  • Proven track record of securing large-scale projects and building long-term partnerships with major industrial and mission-critical clients
  • Demonstrated success in developing relationships with executive stakeholders
  • Experience in originating and closing complex commercial deals
  • Outstanding negotiation and consultative selling skills, capable of differentiating value beyond price competition
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for delivering market insights, competitive analysis, and compelling presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, including Japan-based engineers and product leaders
  • Highly self-driven, results-oriented, resilient, and adaptable to competitive and fast-changing environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and regulatory standards
  • Up to 60% domestic and international travel for client meetings, industry events, and site visits
  • Standard Monday–Friday work week; occasional weekend or late-night work as needed
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk and/or hear
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with data center infrastructure, including power generation, power distribution or precision cooling solutions
  • Experience with modular infrastructure or integrated system solutions
  • Experience contributing to product customization and new product development initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data center customers such as hyperscalers, colocation providers, developers, and EPC contractors
  • Experience working in a matrix organization with global teams
  • Leadership experience mentoring junior staff and promoting cross-organizational understanding
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and sales analytics platforms
  • Master's degree in business administration or engineering
  • Familiarity with Japanese business culture is a plus
