Job Summary
Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support manufacturing operations for optical fiber winding and related processes. Develop, modify, and maintain PLC, motion control, and HMI code using Beckhoff TwinCAT and Allen‐Bradley platforms; apply controls/software expertise to improve equipment reliability, process capability, safety, and productivity in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Collaborate with manufacturing, process, maintenance, and IT teams; document control logic and operating standards; travel less than 25% (primarily within North Carolina with some international travel) and potential site-based work in NC. Position requires strong plc programming and electrical design fundamentals, experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT and Allen‐Bradley platforms, data analysis skills (Python, Matlab, Visual Basic), and project management experience. The role does not sponsor immigration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Controls, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or related discipline)
- 5+ years of relevant experience developing and supporting PLC-based control systems in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to program in ladder logic and structured text
- Strong understanding of electrical design practices, control systems integration, PLCs, electro-mechanical drive systems, vision system, risk assessment and safety systems
- Experience with data analysis using code (e.g., Python, Matlab, Visual Basic)
- 2 years of relevant Project Management experience (cost analysis, GANTT charts)
