Job Summary
Governance-focused senior data engineer role responsible for designing and implementing scalable data governance, quality, security, and compliance capabilities across cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure). Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and compliance teams to ensure trusted, secure, compliant data for analytics, reporting, and GenAI use cases. Key duties include implementing governance frameworks (ownership, stewardship, classification, retention, lifecycle), defining standards and metadata practices, building and maintaining data catalogs and lineage across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers (Databricks, Snowflake, S3, ADLS), establishing data quality rules and monitoring, implementing data masking/encryption and RBAC/ABAC controls, and enabling GenAI governance with trusted data inputs. Requires strong SQL and Python, hands-on Databricks/Snowflake experience, cloud platform expertise (AWS/Azure), knowledge of data security and privacy requirements (HIPAA, GDPR), and experience with DevOps/CI-CD automation. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. 5+ years in data governance/management; 3+ years in cloud data platforms; certifications in relevant technologies are a plus. Collaboration and stakeholder education across teams to promote data trust and risk mitigation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data governance, or data management roles
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud data platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
- Strong experience with SQL and Python
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Snowflake
- Proven experience with AWS and/or Azure data platforms
- Experience implementing data catalogs, metadata, and lineage; data quality frameworks; data security and access controls
- Familiarity with ML/AI platforms (SageMaker, Bedrock) from a data governance perspective
- Understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT workflows, and analytics pipelines
- Experience with DevOps and automation concepts

- Preferred certifications in AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or Data Governance
