Job Summary
Senior Fire Alarm Technician responsible for the advanced installation, programming, commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of commercial fire alarm and life safety systems. Serves as a technical leader within the field operations team and mentors junior technicians to ensure work complies with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards. Must have strong programming/diagnostic capabilities and NICET certification (EST3/EST4 certifications strongly preferred). Duties include reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams, performing inspections and service activities, diagnosing failures, coordinating with customers and AHJs, documenting activities thoroughly, and supporting after-hours emergency service. Requires extensive knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, and local fire codes, plus the ability to lead and train less experienced technicians and to maintain required certifications and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- NICET Level III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems preferred
- Manufacturer certifications required, including EST3 and EST4
- Strong experience with programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning fire alarm systems
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on commercial fire alarm experience
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to mentor junior technicians and apprentices
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, and local fire codes
- Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, specifications
- Ability to coordinate inspections with AHJs
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
- Safety policy compliance
