Job Summary
Senior Financial Reporting Analyst II at Pacific Life in Newport Beach, CA, supporting accounting and financial reporting over Institutional and Workforce Benefits products. Responsibilities include execution of quarterly accounting and reporting tasks (journal entries, reconciliations, analysis), preparation/review of quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory financial statements, coordinating with actuarial, accounting, reporting, tax, FPA, and technology teams, validating impacts of business events on accounting results, communicating key drivers of financial results during close, and supporting finance transformation initiatives including automation of manual processes. May lead functional teams or projects. Requires 8+ years of experience, a 4-year accounting degree or equivalent, and proficiency with Excel; preferred are CPA candidacy/licensure and experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Appian, Essbase, WDesk or ARCs. Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and mentoring abilities; insurance industry experience and public accounting background are valued.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in relevant field
- 4-year accounting degree or equivalent experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently in deadline-driven environment
- Strong accountability, customer focus, collaboration, and a team player
- Experience or certification with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Appian, Essbase, WDesk or ARCs
- CPA candidacy or licensure
- Public accounting experience
- Insurance industry experience
