Job Summary
Review proposal specifications, drawings, and contract plans to determine scope of work and required estimate contents. Incorporate historical data from purchase orders and productivity reports into unit and person-hour figures. Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and material quantities from engineering drawings. Provide technical input on project risks to the lead estimator and advise the team on client addendum changes. Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors to achieve pursuit and cost goals. Partner with the estimating team to conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit and project management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- 5+ years of experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control
Desired Qualifications
- Specialized knowledge and experience in alternative construction delivery methods
- Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software
- Strong technical writing skills
- Able to lead pursuit and estimating activities on a large or complex pursuit project
