Sr. Estimator (Commercial Construction)

Job Summary
Conduct preconstruction efforts by reading project specifications, defining subcontractors, and directing plans coordinators for vendor pricing using SmartBid. Establish bid strategies, review work scopes, and accurately take off CSI Divisions 1-46 to price self-performed and subcontracted work on a unit basis. Lead conceptual budgeting and preconstruction for multiple $15M+ projects while participating in owner interviews and presenting estimates to sell efforts. Monitor coverage with plans coordinators, solicit new subcontractors, and execute bid forms and bonds. Review estimates for accuracy, constructability, and risks, relying on judgment to plan deadlines and facilitate teamwork within the Procurement Department.
Required Qualifications
- At least eight (8) years of experience as an estimator in Commercial Construction
- Experience with projects over $15 Million
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technology, and programs within the construction field
- A certain degree of creativity and innovation is required to out plan the competition
- Must be able to lead an estimate and take full charge of either a conceptual or hard bid
- Must be able to use strategic and innovative methods to obtain sub coverage for bids, especially in new geographic areas
- Must be able to schedule and train Estimators in all aspects of estimating
- Proficient in Timberline, OST, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with self-performance of concrete and carpentry highly desired
