Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Job Summary

Develop and maintain EHS programs, policies, and training across all Niowave locations to mitigate risks to employees, contractors, facilities, and communities. Collaborate with the Radiation Safety team to ensure policy alignment, conduct root cause analysis for incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective measures. Manage training delivery, monitor KPIs, and lead continuous hazard assessments while developing compliance tools for management teams. Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and workers' compensation protocols. Conduct data and risk analyses to identify emerging threats and develop mitigation strategies. Travel between multiple Lansing locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (prefer Occupational Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or Industrial Hygiene), or equivalent level of education, experience, and skills.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in EHS in manufacturing or production operations.
  • Strong understanding and experience in EHS Management Systems and their successful implementation
  • Substantive knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations
  • Strong technical ability to work, collaborate and negotiate with government officials, consultants, and other third-party stakeholders
  • Ability to write complex correspondence, regulatory compliance reports, engaging training materials along with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Resilient self-starter, who expertly performs in both a team-oriented, collaborative environment and independently

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds
  • This position will have regular working hours during M - F with an expectation of adjusting to meet with managers and employees working outside of the standards operating hours as needed
  • Travel between locations is expected in the role

Desired Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • HAZWOPER Training
  • Emergency Management Experience
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Training
  • Certified Safety Professional or similar
  • Experience working with radioactive material and understanding NRC requirements
  • Experience working in a start-up environment with bottoms up build of full EHS program
  • Knowledgeable in cGMP regulations
