Job Summary
Develop and implement general safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, regional, and national safety and health regulations. Consult with all departments on equipment design, fire prevention, and safety programs while inspecting facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards. Recommend corrective or preventative measures for toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and other hazardous substances, and participate in accident or injury investigations. Lay out manufacturing workspaces to optimize safe working environments and develop training programs to increase employee proficiency in safe practices. Maintain safety files and records, report health and safety issues to management, and support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, regional, and national safety and health rules and regulations
- Ability to develop and implement general safety policies and procedures
- Ability to consult with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs
- Ability to lay out manufacturing workspace to optimize safe working environment
- Ability to formulate appropriate safety policies and guidelines
- Ability to inspect or tour facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards
- Ability to recommend corrective or preventative measures
- Ability to keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances
- Ability to develop training programs and communications to increase proficiency in safe practices
- Ability to promote safety consciousness
- Ability to participate in accident/injury investigations
- Ability to maintain safety files and records
- Ability to report to management on health and safety issues and concerns
- Ability to support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives
