Job Summary

Establish and refine enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and regulatory compliance across all business units. Define roles, committees, and stewardship processes while maintaining data catalogs and dictionaries using tools like OneTrust, Microsoft Purview, and Azure. Lead initiatives to resolve integrity issues, enforce privacy regulations via audits, and apply access, encryption, and DLP policies across cloud environments. Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to embed governance into workflows, deliver programs for data literacy, and monitor KPIs to drive continuous process enhancements. Prioritize governance efforts based on business needs and risk, overseeing end-to-end execution of data demand and catalog processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, or related data-centric roles
  • At least 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated industries
  • Proven track record of implementing or maturing data governance programs and driving data quality or compliance initiatives in a complex business environment
  • Experience navigating regulatory requirements in life sciences (such as GxP for clinical/manufacturing data, 21 CFR Part 11 for electronic records, SOX for financial controls, GDPR/CCPA for data privacy)
  • Hands-on experience with data governance and privacy management software
  • Experience with OneTrust or similar platforms for data discovery, classification, and privacy compliance
  • Knowledge of enterprise data catalog or metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of managing data in cloud environments, specifically Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft's enterprise security and compliance ecosystem
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 E5 compliance features – for example, using Microsoft Purview for data governance, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, information protection labeling, eDiscovery, and audit logging
  • Knowledge of data architecture principles and experience working with data integration technologies
  • Proficiency in SQL and understanding of relational and non-relational database systems
  • Fluency in English

Desired Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (Master's or MBA) in a relevant discipline, especially with coursework in data management or analytics
  • Professional certifications in data governance or related fields (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, CIPT, CISSP, CDPSE)
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated industries (strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with standards and frameworks like DAMA-DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge) or ISO data governance standards
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
