Job Summary
Senior-level photonics design engineering role focused on designing, simulating, and characterizing integrated photonic components for optical I/O solutions. You’ll develop and validate passive devices (couplers, gratings, micro-ring resonators) and their system context, plan test vehicles and refine models using measurement data, and contribute to design-for-manufacturability and yield improvements. You will build and extend infrastructure for design and analysis, collaborate across packaging, laser, circuits, and firmware teams, and help drive device performance toward roadmap targets with hands-on experience in simulation, measurement, and data analysis. Salary range aligns with senior-level photonics expertise and includes collaboration on tape-outs and co-packaged optics initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in silicon photonics or integrated photonic device design (research or commercial)
- Solid understanding of photonic device physics: waveguides, couplers, gratings, micro-ring resonators
- Experience with simulation tools for passive optical devices (e.g., FDTD, mode solvers)
- Python skills; experience writing structured code in a team environment
- Ability to connect simulation to measurement — design, characterize, and iterate on device performance
