Job Summary
Lead the design, implementation, tuning, and optimization of advanced process control (APC) applications to improve refinery unit stability, throughput, and yields using Honeywell Forge APC and related tools. Monitor APC performance, diagnose issues, and drive troubleshooting with process engineering, operations, and process control teams. Develop and maintain APC models and control strategies, including dynamic process models and gasoline blending models, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Define instrumentation and control strategy requirements for APC projects; create and maintain APC documentation, standards, and training materials; lead Management of Change (MOC) and periodic audits. Analyze process and APC data to identify improvement opportunities and quantify benefits in energy use, margin, and reliability. Lead or contribute to APC projects from concept through startup, coordinating with multi-functional teams and vendors. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced APC engineers while expanding expertise in APC technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- 5+ years of combined experience in process engineering/design, process control, and/or advanced process control in refining, petrochemical, manufacturing, or a related industry
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time
- Occasional on-call duties
- Work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to transport articles up to 50 pounds
- Work safely near hazardous conditions and with chemicals and hydrocarbons
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
- Maintain appropriate PPE and safety practices
- Compliance with site safety and health requirements
- Demonstrated communication and mentoring skills
- Commitment to continuous learning in APC technologies and best practices
- Experience with refinery processes and APC design/maintenance is preferred
- Experience with Honeywell Forge APC or similar multivariable control technology
