Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain embedded hardware and firmware for new and existing products using C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems. Create electronic circuits, schematics, and PCB layouts while troubleshooting and debugging embedded systems with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debuggers. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and test teams throughout the product development lifecycle to support enhancements, engineering changes, and technical issue resolution. Prepare technical documentation and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers a 40% hardware/60% firmware split within a leading specialized electronics manufacturer in a regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- Approximately 8-10 years of embedded systems experience
- Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices or aerospace
- Strong embedded firmware development experience using C/C++
- Experience with microcontroller-based systems and embedded architectures
- Hands-on hardware design experience including schematic capture and PCB design (Altium Designer or similar)
- Experience with common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART
- Proficiency using debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debuggers
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
