Job Summary
Senior Electrical Engineer – Embedded Hardware responsible for designing, adapting, and troubleshooting embedded communications circuits (MCUs, antennas, filters, low-noise amplifiers, transmit/receivers, power supplies) for performance, cost, and manufacturability. Lead technology investigations, define system requirements and architectures, and drive new intelligent feature design for next-generation power tools (wired and wireless). Mentor junior engineers on engineering best practices, manage tasks with project tools, design, prototype, test, and qualify hardware to regulatory standards (FCC, IC, CE, UL, Bluetooth, NFC). Collaborate with marketing, project leadership, and product owners to add communications features, use lab equipment (network/spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, DAQ), develop test plans, and communicate effectively across teams. Travel up to 10% and contribute to tradeoff discussions and project metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of embedded systems experience, including MCU selection/evaluation
- Understanding of digital circuits and the interaction between firmware and electronics in a communications system
- Ability to realize component level design and test for signal integrity
- Familiarity with using schematic capture, PCB layout software, and knowledge of industry best practices
- Proficiency in creating sub-system and component level design requirements
- Proficiency with standard lab equipment and specialized communication test equipment
- Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international)
