Job Summary

Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver avionics hardware subsystem elements, including common circuit blocks and development kits. Design, develop, and verify high-performance avionics hardware for incorporation in various flight vehicles. Drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, fabrication, and test of flight and power management components and subsystems elements. Your responsibilities encompass electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development, and test. This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 10+ proven years experience in the design of complex hardware
  • Skilled Altium user
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Must be able to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
  • High-speed digital, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit design, build, and troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of EE principles
  • Circuit analysis and simulation, such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or Spice simulation
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • Battery-based power systems, including power management, power switching, charging, and battery safety
  • Computer command and I/O control for sophisticated industrial systems or vehicles
  • RF communication subsystem and/or component design, with a strong background in RF principles
  • Design of Data Acquisition Systems and familiarity with a variety of sensor technologies
  • Background developing sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License (implied by CDL requirements for certain profiles)

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related subject areas
  • 15+ years proven experience in design, development, integration, test, and operation of Avionics systems or vehicles
