On-sitePhoenix, Arizona, United States
Job Summary
Own the electrical design lifecycle for complex boards and subsystems by interpreting requirements, defining system architectures, and producing schematics and block diagrams. Validate designs through analysis and testing while providing PCB design guidance on stack-up, routing, and signal/power integrity. Support board bring-up and lab debugging, and lead design efforts or mentor junior engineers as needed. This individual contributor role requires technical depth to resolve novel engineering challenges within the Space and Defense Group, which delivers avionics solutions for NASA missions including the Artemis Orion Crew Capsule and OSIRIS-REX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on hardware/electrical design experience
- Self-motivated, strong analytic and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium)
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad)
- Working knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis and practical mitigation techniques
- Proven ability to produce clear design documentation and to support board bring up and lab debugging
Desired Qualifications
- Master's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of harsh-environment / aerospace-grade hardware (radiation‐tolerant design, thermal vacuum testing)
- Demonstrated history of both analog (instrumentation) and digital design implementation and commissioning
- Experience collaborating with SI/PI or FPGA teams and using modeling evidence to support design reviews
