Job Summary
Dispatcher coordinates concrete delivery operations from our Warren, MI corporate office, using maps and multiple communication methods to schedule drivers, maintain safety and efficiency, and ensure DOT compliance. Responsibilities include answering calls from plants, drivers, and customers; calculating most efficient routes; processing information from drivers, sales, and customers to align on production demands; balancing driver hours to meet production and customer needs; maintaining radio/phone contact with drivers; assisting with driver recruitment and retention; potential path to supervisory roles; hours are 1am-11am, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays and lucrative weekend incentives; requires 2+ years of concrete dispatching experience, knowledge of QC/QA, equipment and maintenance knowledge, strong organizational and communication skills, problem solving, and union contract knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in concrete dispatching
- Understanding of QC/QA for the ready mix concrete industry
- Knowledge of concrete production equipment, processes, and maintenance programs
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and delegate
- Ability to use multiple forms of communication (multi-line phone system, mobile phones, two-way radios, emails)
- Ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Union contract knowledge
- Authoritative leadership to guide drivers daily
