Job Summary
Sr. Director of Systems Engineering at Intuitive Machines - West in Palo Alto, CA leads and shapes the systems engineering strategy and organizational development across the company’s mission portfolio, driving enterprise-level processes, MBSE/digital engineering adoption, rigorous technical execution, and cross-program collaboration. The role oversees leadership development, recruitment support, and governance of system-level standards, performs technical oversight through critical reviews/trade studies, engages with DoD/NASA/commercial partners, and guides requirements, architecture, verification, risk management, and customer engagement across lunar, GEO/LEO, and other space systems. Preferred qualifications include deep knowledge of commercial space architectures and MBSE tools, with experience working with agile software teams and diverse mission types; active TS/SCI clearance is noted in minimum requirements and compensation details are provided for California and other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent technical degree
- Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience in aerospace systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years in technical leadership roles with demonstrated people leadership and organizational development experience
- Experience leading systems engineering across multiple programs
- Experience with complex aerospace systems including mechanical, electrical, thermal, propulsion, and software subsystems
- Demonstrated expertise conducting complex trade studies optimizing technical performance, mass, power, thermal, cost, schedule, and risk
- Experience with requirements development, decomposition, and verification across system lifecycles
