Job Summary
Direct and oversee engineering research, design, and development activities to create new or improved products, processes, and services. Specify precise functional requirements, design and integrate components, and evaluate design effectiveness for cost, reliability, and safety. Utilize CAD or CAE systems to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings while collaborating with manufacturing partners to optimize for manufacturability. Develop project plans, secure resources, and monitor progress through regular leadership reports. Establish policies, administer budgets, and guide subordinates in applying scientific principles to the product development process. Ensure all laboratory activities comply with regulatory guidelines and quality standards. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or engineering, 10-12 years of experience, and PMP certification. Includes up to 25% travel and a competitive salary range of $209,500-$283,400.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree and 10-12 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must have at least one manager level direct report
- Is accountable for the performance and results of a division or region
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
- Up to 25% travel likely
