Job Summary
Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase will lead teams delivering Full Stack and Synthetic observability solutions within the Global Technology group. You will architect and implement cloud-enabled observability platforms for enterprise use across public and private clouds, mentor engineers, and promote best practices. Responsibilities include designing scalable, pre-configured tools to streamline workflows, guiding the development of observability and cloud-based platforms, overseeing software design and troubleshooting, identifying data patterns to improve coding standards and architecture, collaborating across teams to deliver cohesive solutions, producing architectural artifacts, fostering a diverse and inclusive team culture, and contributing to communities of practice. Required capabilities include extensive AWS experience, hands-on system design and development, proficiency in Java and Python, leadership of large engineering teams, and knowledge of observability solutions and modern tooling (e.g., Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, Terraform, EKS, ECS). Preferred skills include expertise in observability platforms and cloud automation, with a focus on secure application development and vulnerability management.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
- 10+ years applied experience in software engineering
- 5+ years experience leading technologists
- Comprehensive understanding of AWS fundamentals (compute, networking, storage, security policies, deployment)
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficiency in Java and Python
- Proven experience leading large teams through software design and implementation challenges
- Strong presentation skills for engineering audiences
- Knowledge of large-scale observability solutions (e.g., Dynatrace)
- Commitment to continuous learning and exploration of new technologies
- Experience working in agile team environments
