Job Summary
Execute the human resources strategy in alignment with institutional direction set by the CFO/COO, translating organizational priorities into actionable HR programs and initiatives. Provide regular, transparent reporting on HR metrics, workforce trends, and people-related risks to inform executive decisions on talent development and organizational health. Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning, while leading change management efforts for leadership transitions and restructuring. Manage the HR team and direct the Director of Learning & Organizational Development to build training programs that improve organizational capability. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, serving as the EEO compliance officer and overseeing workplace investigations. Prepare and manage the HR department's annual operating budget in coordination with senior leadership. This role operates in a Christ-centered higher education environment where candidates must align with the institution's doctrinal statement and community standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience
- At least 3 years in a senior HR director or manager role in a complex organization
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership and implement HR strategy across a complex, multi-functional organization
- Strong working knowledge of employment law, organizational development, compensation administration, and employee relations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Emotional intelligence
- Ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups
- Proven ability to manage complex personnel situations with discretion
- Proven ability to lead a small team
- Proven ability to drive results in a collaborative environment
- A mature and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ

- Must be available for onsite work in Chicago, IL
- Must be available for standard hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be willing to sign a Statement of Faith and adhere to Community Standards
- Must hold beliefs consistent with Moody Bible Institute's Doctrinal Statement
- Must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with religious beliefs
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
- Familiarity with faith-based institutional culture
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent professional certification
