Job Summary
Senior Director, Medical Data Affairs & Strategy at Johnson & Johnson Med Tech leads the medical data strategy, integrating real-world data, RWE, and publication activities to inform evidence-based decision-making and product value. Responsible for designing and executing real-world/observational studies, overseeing analytical methodologies (statistics, ML, data visualization), directing the scientific publications program, and partnering with Clinical, Regulatory, HEOR, and Medical Affairs teams to translate data into insights. Builds and mentors a multidisciplinary team, drives external collaborations, and establishes governance and KPIs for data, publication planning, and study quality; supports data governance, regulatory compliance, and business growth in Heart Recovery and related areas.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MPH, MS) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare data science/medical affairs
- Minimum of 5 years leading a high performing team
- Strong experience leading RWE or observational research programs
- Proven track record in scientific publication planning and execution
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical and scientific teams
- Excellent cross-functional communication and external collaboration skills
- Fundamental skills in programming, coding and machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Large data set management and analytics
- Scientific writing and communication
- Other: 20% Domestic travel with International travel a possibility
