Job Summary

Lead and grow multiple high-performing engineering teams responsible for LIMS and laboratory pipelines supporting secondary analysis, including sequence data processing, variant calling, and quality control. Define and execute technical strategy for scalable, secure systems that transform raw sequencing data into structured, analysis-ready outputs while ensuring regulatory compliance for clinical environments. Oversee development from sample accessioning through reporting, balancing speed with long-term sustainability across cross-functional initiatives. Manage roadmap planning, resource allocation, and modern engineering practices including CI/CD and cloud-native architectures. Partner closely with operations, bioinformatics, product, and regulatory teams to deliver integrated solutions that directly impact patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of multiple teams or organizations
  • Proven experience building and scaling enterprise systems in laboratory, healthcare, or other regulated environments
  • Direct experience with LIMS platforms and secondary analysis pipelines (e.g., sequence data processing, variant calling, annotation workflows, or similar data-intensive pipelines)
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, workflow orchestration, and distributed systems
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA or equivalent) with a strong understanding of quality and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels
  • Track record of developing leaders and building high-performing, engaged teams

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline
  • Experience in genomics, molecular diagnostics, or other data-intensive life sciences domains
  • Familiarity with end-to-end sequencing workflows, including primary, secondary, and tertiary analysis stages
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems and driving platform transformation initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and interoperability standards in clinical environments
  • Experience implementing or integrating commercial LIMS platforms
  • Passion for improving patient outcomes through technology and advancing precision medicine
