Job Summary
Drive the technology vision for Liferay's Cloud infrastructure by defining and implementing next-generation cloud-native architecture powered by Kubernetes. Conduct R&D on cloud technologies including k8s operators and service mesh, while collaborating with SRE teams to automate release processes, monitor system performance, and evolve observability tools. Manage upgrades, patches, and security gaps across the global Cloud ecosystem, providing technical support for escalated customer issues and troubleshooting network or application malfunctions. Architect and maintain automated release pipelines, close security gaps mapped by InfoSec, and mentor developers on best practices. Create and update architectural documentation, diagrams, and README files to support technical teams.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience running and operating Kubernetes on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Experience in writing Kubernetes artifacts using Helm
- Experience in Continuous Delivery processes of Kubernetes applications with GitOps practices using ArgoCD
- Solid experience with Docker and Terraform, Terragrunt and Atlantis
- Strong experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
- Experience scripting in one of the languages used by system engineers (shell, golang, etc)
- Experience operating large-scale distributed systems (preferably running on public cloud)
- Knowledge of Networking, VPN (IPSec with IKEv2), and experience identifying and solving network issues
- Strong communication and team player skills
- Comfortable with Agile practices for delivering iterative solutions to the business
- Experience with Kanban methodology and JIRA
- Build and maintain a solid knowledge base usable by different teams, technical and otherwise
- Experience using Confluence
- Solid knowledge in Linux architecture and troubleshooting
- Experience working with Objective Key Results (OKRs) methodology
- Strong feedback skills
- Both receiving and providing feedback in 1:1 meetings
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with at least one of the following managed Kubernetes services: Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), RedHat OpenShift Kubernetes Service (ROKS)
- Experience in automating development processes and environments
- Experience implementing full CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Kubernetes-based projects, like cert-manager, service meshes (istio.io or linkerd.io), storage solutions
- Experience with Linux, MySQL, Nginx, Tomcat, Git, Jenkins
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect
- Google Cloud Certified Professional DevOps Engineer
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer
