Job Summary
Senior Data Scientist at Northern Trust responsible for developing Python-based software to acquire and integrate data from diverse sources, building data pipelines and datasets for training/validation/testing, performing descriptive statistics, and developing ML models (supervised, unsupervised, time series) with ensemble methods. Role includes tuning hyper-parameters, ensuring data quality, mitigating biases, running large-scale training/inference on cloud infrastructure, presenting findings to stakeholders, and guiding software teams as prototypes are moved to production. Strong emphasis on Python tooling (numpy, pandas, sklearn), ML frameworks (Keras, TensorFlow), Linux environments, ETL processes, and collaboration with vendors/universities to adopt new techniques; production-ready data science workflows and cross-project collaboration are key.
Required Qualifications
- Computer Science degree (undergraduate or graduate level) and strong statistical background
- Data Science graduate work, Finance sector experience or coursework preferred
