Job Summary

Define, devise, and oversee legislative strategies to advance ADF's organizational objectives. Direct the Vice President of Public Policy and Strategic Relations to develop federal and state tools for defending religious freedom and free speech. Manage direct reports including Government Relations Directors while building alliances with lawmakers and executive-branch officials. Conduct direct advocacy before Congress and state legislatures, draft legislation and testimony, and testify on significant bills. Represent ADF in media and public events, coordinate cross-team collaboration with Legal and Communications, and allocate resources to maximize legal outcomes. Gauge team effectiveness through measurements and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with an active license in at least one US state bar
  • 10+ years of professional experience working in federal or state legislative or executive-branch settings
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in a federal legislative context
  • Experience managing teams of attorneys
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel up to 30% of the year
