Job Summary
Manage all facets of litigation with a focus on labor and employment disputes, conducting internal investigations, supporting discovery, and drafting pleadings while directing litigation strategy and negotiating settlements. Identify legal risks and mitigate them by designing and implementing controls. This role represents SpaceX in domestic and international matters, requiring experience leading labor and employment litigation in court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings. Based in Hawthorne, CA, the position demands onsite presence, approximately 10% travel, and the ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- 7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
- Experience litigating labor and employment disputes
- Must be admitted to the bar, in good standing, in at least one U.S. State
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee (or eligible for required authorizations)
- Must be based in Hawthorne, CA and be onsite (remote work not considered)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading litigation of labor and employment matters, including in court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, NLRB)
- Meaningful first or second chair trial experience
- Specialized knowledge of California labor and employment law (Texas, Florida, Washington State also helpful)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience—either in-house or through client relationships—representing high-growth companies
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with other business groups and/or clients
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
