Job Summary
Sr. Convention Services Manager leads and supervises the daily Catering operations, forecasts annual budgets, optimizes catering revenue, and drives client bookings for events. Responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans to generate catering revenues, evaluating business opportunities to maximize profitability, maintaining budgeted sales and profits, coordinating with the Banquet and Chef teams on menu pricing and event execution, and managing vendor relationships and Audio Visual as a profit center. Requires strong sales and revenue management skills, experience with site inspections, client presentations, trade shows, and long-term client relationships, plus proficiency with Delphi, Word, and Excel.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years in Catering Sales required
- Must have experience at a similar size and quality hotel
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
- Must possess computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
- Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers
- Advanced knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals
- Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate
- Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, and clear
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
