Job Summary
Conduct jurisdictionally required inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, steam systems, and combustion equipment for assigned commercial lines customers. Perform non-destructive testing including ultrasonic thickness, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant verification while evaluating combustion efficiency and flue gas conditions. Assess water treatment records for corrosion risks and verify compliance with ASME, NBIC, and local codes. Prepare inspection reports, deficiency notices, and certificates of inspection, then recommend and document repairs or modifications. Coordinate with owners, contractors, and regulatory authorities, maintaining current knowledge of code updates and industry best practices. This hybrid role requires 50% travel, potential after-hours emergency inspections, and a company car for remote candidates residing in Western Massachusetts or the Capital Region of New York.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with coursework in mathematics and engineering or related area
- minimum of 3 years of directly related consulting experience
- NBBI IS Commission or ability to obtain NBBI IS Commission
- Demonstrated ability to retrieve and enter information using various proprietary software applications
