Job Summary
Senior Consultant for Eastern Markets in Planning & Advisory. Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion with clients (G&T cooperatives, municipals, developers, IPPs) focusing on eastern regulatory and market design issues (PJM, MISO, SPP). Develop and support resource adequacy capacity market design and policy, prepare/review regulatory filings before regulatory agencies, analyze filings by other parties, and perform policy and economic analysis to support advocacy. Provide assessments of market fundamentals and evolving market rules to inform client planning functions; summarize analysis for client management teams and seek peer review to ensure high-quality deliverables. Build and maintain client relationships as a primary liaison, and travel up to 25% to client sites and industry meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics, economics, or other energy industry-related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 11 years of analytical and modeling experience in one or more structured power markets (e.g. CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, SPP). Familiarity with one or more of the power markets within the Eastern Interconnection preferred (PJM, MISO, SPP).
- Experience with regulatory filings in energy-related administrative proceedings before regulatory agencies
- Experience in RTOs analyzing congestion, ARR/FTRs, resource adequacy requirements, capacity market design and pricing, and / or RPS requirements
- Knowledge of resource planning/IRP, production cost modeling, electricity generation, transmission, distribution and infrastructure a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Up to 25% travel to client sites and to attend industry meetings
