Job Summary
Underwrite complex credit and political risk exposures for a Specialty E&S book, analyzing financial statements, country risk, and pricing to determine acceptability and terms. Drive revenue within a defined territory through broker visits, client engagement, and strategic sales processes; structure and negotiate new and renewal business; coordinate with team on marketing, production, and service objectives; ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and applicable regulations; leverage IT tools and data inputs to support risk evaluation and pricing. Strong emphasis on building broker relationships, delivering sound underwriting judgments, and contributing to profitability and customer retention. Hybrid work arrangements are supported for roles in the New York or Washington, DC area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA or master's degree in finance, international affairs or business administration a plus
- 10-12 years of experience in credit and political risk underwriting
- ability to analyze financial statements, country risk, and pricing models
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- experience in broker relationships and agency management
- underwriting authority and pricing discipline
- ability to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence
