Job Summary
Senior-level Construction Project Engineer role on SpaceX HQ construction team. Responsible for overseeing full lifecycle of multi-discipline manufacturing-facility projects from cradle to grave, delivering on time and under budget, coordinating with architects, engineers, trade partners and internal customers, and serving as the project manager and supervisor on site. Requires managing project scheduling and cost control, facilitating city/county/government approvals, coordinating real estate planning and building operations, and developing tools to support enterprise space allocation. Emphasizes autonomy, multi-project management, and close collaboration with internal customers, contractors, fabricators, and trade partners to enable SpaceX’s manufacturing capabilities and ultimately the mission of making life multiplanetary. Educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in civil/mechanical/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management; 5+ years of relevant experience; Professional Engineer license (preferred); manufacturing facility experience; and ability to work extended hours, travel as needed, and operate in Extreme outdoor environments. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or construction management
- 5+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, construction or facilities management
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
- Experience managing multiple vertical projects
- Knowledge of jurisdictional permitting and/or environmental agencies
- Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
- Reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Manufacturing facility experience
- Ability to work at elevated heights and extreme outdoor environments
- Valid driver’s license
- Occasional travel may be required
