Job Summary
The Sr. Construction Inspector will lead inspections of roadway and bridge construction, ensuring compliance with contract specifications while providing specialized inspections and mentoring junior technicians. Key responsibilities include monitoring construction activities and materials, performing oversight inspections, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the project.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma with 10+ years of progressive roadway construction inspection experience or equivalent.
- Graduation from a two-year technical college with a degree in civil engineering technology or construction management and 8 years of progressive transportation technician experience.
- Graduation from a university with a degree in civil engineering or a four-year college with a degree in civil engineering technology or construction management and 3 years of progressive transportation inspection experience.
- Experience in transportation construction inspection, including heavy civil, bridge, and roadway projects.
- Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods, and equipment used in highway and bridge construction.
- Proficiency in mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience in reading and interpreting complex construction plans and reports.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working independently and make informed decisions in the field.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety practices in construction environments.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods and Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.
- Supervisory experience in construction inspection roles.
- Familiarity with GDOT systems like Assure-It® and e-Builder®.
