Job Summary
Senior Community Impact Manager leads policy and advocacy efforts focused on BIPOC communities, coordinating with a diverse range of advocacy partners, managing grants for BIPOC-led systems change, and producing materials (blog posts, action alerts, letters) to communicate United Way’s positions to officials and stakeholders. The role builds relationships with BIPOC coalitions, supports coalition partners, manages lobbying activities and contracts, and helps drive United Way’s public policy agenda across federal to local levels, centering racial equity in human services advocacy. Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related experience in community organizing, public policy, and racial equity, with strong writing, research, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (human services, public policy, public administration, social work, political science) or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of five years’ progressively responsible experience in community organizing, public policy, racial equity, and related positions that include relationship and trust building, research, analysis, and writing
- Experience in project management, organizational development, volunteer management
- Experience and understanding of systemic and institutional racial bias; sensitivity to issues and concerns of BIPOC communities
- Demonstrated ability to manage contracts and grants, administer budgets, and build relationships with funded agencies and other funders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write about public policy in layman’s terms and engage with officials, community members, donors, and stakeholders
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local public policy processes and funding/budget frameworks
