Sr. Claims Service Representative

Job Summary
Investigate and resolve high frequency, low severity commercial property, casualty, and workers compensation claims by examining policies, contracts, and claim forms to determine coverage, liability, damages, and reserves. Deny or negotiate settlements, enter claim data into systems, and re-evaluate exposures throughout the claim lifecycle. Make initial contact with insureds to obtain information, assign claims to staff, and assist agents or claimants with questions. Create Excel spreadsheets for management reporting, prepare routine correspondence, process payments, and complete forms for State and National regulatory agencies. Answer calls from the Customer Experience Center, direct calls appropriately, and participate in educational and mentoring opportunities. Occasional travel required for business unit meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Two years related claims experience and/or training
- Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proven customer service experience with strong customer orientation
- Ability to successfully negotiate
- Ability to interpret information, evaluate, research, and take steps to resolve problems
- Demonstrated willingness to embrace new systems, processes, technology, and ideas
- Sense of urgency with efficient planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Completion of or progress toward AINS, AIC, or similar designations
