Job Summary
Sr. Chief Engineer leads engineering and maintenance staff across properties (500k sq ft+), overseeing HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, energy audits, environmental and ADA compliance, and life-safety programs. Responsible for developing operating and capital budgets, coordinating preventive maintenance procedures, supervising performance reviews, coordinating with outside contractors and tenant finish personnel, and ensuring proper documentation of contracts, specifications, and construction-related activities. Requires extensive supervisory experience in commercial property settings, knowledge of EPA/OSHA compliance, and licensure/certification as applicable, with travel between properties and ongoing focus on safety, efficiency, and code adherence.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years engineering experience with significant supervisory responsibility in a commercial property setting
- experience in operation, installation and maintenance of building systems including HVAC, electrical and plumbing
- environmental and ADA compliance knowledge
- Licensed or certified trades as applicable (Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses)
- Universal Technician for CFCs depending on market licensure requirements
- familiarity with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Building Management Systems
- proficiency in preparation of staff schedules and preventive maintenance programs
- ability to develop budget estimates and manage contracts and procurement
- strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
- basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word
