Sr. Buyer

Job Summary
Sr. Buyer will independently manage complex government-funded procurements, collaborate with engineering and legal teams to ensure compliant purchases, negotiate contracts to optimize value, manage diverse suppliers, perform market research to identify new sources, analyze proposals for regulatory compliance, maintain documentation for audits, and foster cross-functional relationships across departments in support of Draper’s government-backed R&D programs. The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years in government procurement, strong negotiation and communication skills, knowledge of FAR/DFARS, and US citizenship capable of obtaining a government security clearance. Location: Cambridge, MA (remote option available).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience in government procurement
- Expertise in modern procurement and supply chain management principles
- Experience buying a variety of commodities (electronics, software, services, etc.)
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and other relevant government regulations
- Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a government security clearance
