Job Summary
Source contracts, negotiate prices, and administer purchase orders for Defense requirements while qualifying vendors and evaluating bids. Optimize sourcing direction by implementing commodity strategies, comparing competitive quotes, and identifying cost avoidance opportunities. Maintain an optimal supply base, enter data into SAP, and mentor buyers as required. Cross-functionally interface with Pricing, Engineering, and Finance to support organization goals and drive continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or legacy CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification
- Minimum of 4 years of procurement experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience negotiating within the automotive or defense industries
- Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work independently
- Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to create and present detailed sourcing analyses using PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build effective internal and external relationships
- Ability to read engineering prints
- Ability to understand basic component manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Adaptable and flexible
- Ability to recommend and implement process improvements
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in PowerPoint
- Proficient in Word
- Ability to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity
- Ability to regularly hear well enough to communicate

- Up to 15% travel
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or legacy CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification preferred in lieu of a degree
- SAP S/4HANA experience preferred
