Job Summary
Oversee night-time operations of the Kansas City terminal's dock, managing forklift traffic, loading processes, and the picking/sortation of palletized freight. Ensure proper carrier loads by monitoring trailer cube and weight while maintaining a safe environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards. Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers, and hands; monitor production against KPI goals, track hours and overtime, and ensure operational model compliance. Work Monday through Friday from 12:00am to 10:00am, averaging 50 hours weekly, including nights, weekends, and any weather conditions. Handle high-pressure environments with multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations
- A thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry
- Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking industry
- Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees
- Must be willing to work 50 hours/week average
- Must be able to work any shift including nights and/or weekends and in any weather condition
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-pressure environment with multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications
- An associate or bachelor's degree, preferred but not required
- Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
- High aptitude for technology
- The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
- Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
