Job Summary
Sr. Automation Engineer (Networks) responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco NSO solutions and related network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability. Will troubleshoot complex issues using NSO logs/monitoring, integrate NSO with devices/APIs via NETCONF/RESTCONF/JSON-RPC, and develop automation scripts in Python/Java to streamline operations. Duties include regular system maintenance (NED upgrades, patching, security auditing, backups), collaborating with network architects and software developers, and creating comprehensive technical documentation. Role may be supported on-site from Texas, Colorado, or Florida in addition to the primary Chantilly, VA location; the position is contingent upon contract award and involves coordination with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- TS SCI Poly
- DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2
- 16 years experience (combination of work history and education)
- Expert knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
- Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining software in a Linux (RHEL) environment
- Intermediate scripting skills (Python)
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional teamwork
- Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers and switches (desired)
- Familiarity with NSO and network orchestration
