Job Summary
Senior Automation Engineer to lead full project lifecycle (design through commissioning) for automation and controls in the food, dairy, and beverage industries. Responsibilities include developing control system architecture diagrams, designing control panels and electrical schematics in AutoCAD, specifying control system components, preparing system documentation, developing PLC I/O assignments, programming PLCs using Allen-Bradley Logix platforms, developing HMI applications (FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, iFix, Ignition), supporting clients on remote and on-site projects, designing industrial networks and data infrastructure, developing applications (VB.NET, SQL), participating in commissioning and startup activities, and training client operations/maintenance personnel. Travel 20–25% within the U.S.; requires strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to work both independently and in teams. Knowledge areas include PLC/HMI programming, AutoCAD, industrial networking, VB.NET/SQL, and safety/OSHA training compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline preferred
- 10+ years’ experience programming industrial control systems in food, dairy, or beverage industries preferred
- PLC programming (Allen-Bradley Logix platforms - 5, 500, 5000) required
- HMI programming (Rockwell FactoryTalk View, AVEVA Wonderware, GE Intellution iFix, Ignition) required
- AutoCAD (required)
- Industrial networking concepts
- VB.NET and SQL database development (preferred)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Travel up to 25%
