Job Summary
Sr. Associate on Sands Capital's Alternatives Finance and Operations team, responsible for accounting, financial analysis, reporting, and day-to-day support of funds and the management company. Key duties include developing understanding of fund mechanics and fee structures, maintaining books and records for fund structures and related entities, designing and preparing detailed financial analysis and forecasts, reviewing capital calls and distributions, responding to limited partner queries, creating financial statements and reviewing workpapers for the annual US GAAP audit, working with tax preparers on annual tax returns, and ensuring adherence to limited partner arrangements including MFN clauses and side letter agreements. Requires an undergraduate degree in accounting/finance, 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience (CPA preferred), and strong Excel skills; comfort with technology and interest in AI-enabled tools are highlighted. The role is based at Sands Capital’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia on a hybrid schedule (three days in-office per week, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with schedule subject to change by management). The position emphasizes integrity, client service, teamwork, initiative, and adaptability as core behavioral traits, and offers a base salary range of $120,000 to $125,000 plus a discretionary bonus; comprehensive benefits are provided.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university.
- At least 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience (CPA preferred).
- Strong consideration to private markets investment industry experience.
- Ability to accurately analyze and apply US GAAP, income tax basis and cash basis financial reports.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate and explain complex matters to varied backgrounds of expertise.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with complex data sets.
- High level of comfort with changing technology and data-driven tools; interest in large language models or AI-enabled tools preferred.
