Job Summary
Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments and follow up via phone, email, or written correspondence to ensure timely collection. Accurately apply customer payments, resolve discrepancies, and process credit memos, refunds, and adjustments while maintaining comprehensive transaction records. Perform account reconciliations, conduct aging analysis, and assess credit risk to calculate and recommend credit limits. Coordinate with finance and sales teams to manage credit holds, track Days Sales Outstanding metrics, and forecast cash collections for rolling cash flow projections. Support month-end and year-end closing activities, prepare documentation for internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with financial policies. This role supports Mars' global consumer and pet nutrition brands, headquartered in McLean, VA.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in accounts receivable, credit analysis, or general accounting
- Proven experience in credit evaluation and setting customer credit limits
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis tools
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or QuickBooks
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Analytical thinker with the ability to identify trends and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally
