Sr. APQP Engineer

Job Summary
Lead and manage the APQP process from concept through production launch and post-launch activities, ensuring all deliverables including PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA are completed on time. Coordinate cross-functional team meetings with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Suppliers to drive issue resolution and risk mitigation during new product introductions. Serve as the primary interface with customers on APQP, PPAP, and launch readiness topics, verifying control plans and process capability prior to launch. Oversee PPAP submissions, establish performance metrics, and report status to leadership while capturing lessons learned for future programs. Partner with Supplier Quality to align supplier activities and validate equipment and tooling with manufacturing teams.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 standards
- APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans
- Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
- Statistical analysis and quality data reporting
- Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems
- Experience with inspection tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial) or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing quality or engineering
- Extensive hands-on experience with APQP and PPAP in automotive or regulated manufacturing environments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
Desired Qualifications
- knowledge of Infor ERP (MAPICS) preferred
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
